  10. Congratulations and thank you for choosing HandMAIL Internet E-mail 
  11. for PalmPilot and Palm III connected organizers.

  13. With this software, you will be able to Send and Receive e-mail using:

  15. - America Online
  16.  
  17. Each of these services is provided by a different HandMAIL application 
  18. to install on your organizer: 
  19.  
  20. - Install "HM-AOL.prc" AND "AOLScript.pdb" for America Online
  21.  
  22.  
  23. In both cases, HandMAIL connects directly to your mail host, and does not 
  24. require you to synchronize your organizer with a desktop computer in order to 
  25. exchange mail.
  26.  
  27. HandMAIL uses the PalmPilot Professional or Palm III organizer's integrated
  28. TCP/IP software (PPP) for connections to the Internet. HandMAIL AOL also offers
  29.  standard (non-PPP) modem connections to America Online.

  32. Note on evaluation version

  35. The evaluaation version of HandMAIL is designed to let you validate the 
  36. software in your own environment, with your own Internet Service Provider,
  37. and with your organizer.

  39. You may use the software to connect and to send and receive mail with 
  40. message "subjects" only. Message body is replaced by a generic message
  41. from Smartcode. Once your messages get through, you can be 100% confident 
  42. that the licensed version of HandMAIL will also run flawlessly for you.

  46. - HandMAIL demo versions do not support text file attachments.

  48. - The functions to "delete mail from server" have been disabled entirely
  49.   in order to protect any mail that you may have on the server at the 
  50.   time you test the evaluation software.

  58. At this time, HandMAIL AOL does not allow you to read the contents of your 
  59. "Read Mail" folder on the America Online host.

  70. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  73. HandMAIL runs on 3Com PalmPilot Professional, Palm III, IBM WorkPad, and other
  74. compatible devices running Palm OS 2.0 and higher. The applications use 
  75. approximately 170 KB (for SMTP/POP3) and 140 KB (for AOL).

  77. In order to send and receive mail (POP3 and SMTP only) with a Pilot 1000, 
  78. 5000, or PalmPilot Personal organizer, you must use the HandStamp 2.12 
  79. version on this CD-ROM. HandStamp 2.12 is an earlier version of the HandMAIL
  80. software that includes its own integrated PPP stack. The above-mentioned 
  81. organizers did not include PPP.

  83. If you need to install HandStamp 2.12, please read the user documentation
  84. in the directory "HandStamp.old" on this CD.
